Research area

Katrin Hofer's research interests include urban development planning, public participation, Southern urban theory, housing, urban inequalities, feminist planning, and urban informality. Her research employs both qualitative and quantitative methods.

Katrin Hofer is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer at the Spatial Development and Urban Policy Research Group, ETH Zürich. Katrin holds a PhD from ETH, focusing on public participation in urban development, based on fieldwork in South Africa. She also holds an MSc in Urban Development Planning from the Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College London, and a BA in Social Work and Social Policy from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. Before joining ETH Zürich, she was involved in applied research and development projects in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
